PSN RIVERS VISITS, FELICITATES WITH ACPN IMO AT MAIDEN CONFERENCE

Chima Agnellus Ogbu MAW yesterday, November 21, 2019 led a powerful delegation to Imo State to attend the maiden edition of the State Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN). In his entourage were the Immediate Past Chairman of PSN, Pharm Adewale Oladigbolu FPSN , the ACPN Chairman in Rivers State, Pharm Agbomma Esom-Ibe MAW , and the Publicity Secretary, Pharm Joseph Ebirim. The 2-day conference was reported to have started off with a Substance Abuse Sensitization Walk on the 20th November (Day 1) and was rounded up with an interactive session between the Community Pharmacists and the students of the Government Secondary School, Owerri. PSN RIVERS RECEIVES THE RIVERS STATE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION, ENDORSES CAMPAIGN

PSN Rivers yesterday received a courtesy visit from the Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications led by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Paulinus Nsirim at the PSN State Secretariat, Azikiwe Road, PH. The Permanent Secretary who came in the company of Directors of the Ministry described the visit as one aimed at fostering a harmonious relationship with the PSN for the purpose of collaboration in projecting Rivers State in good light under the campaign tagged # OurStateOurResponsibility .  He highlighted the many obvious and sterling efforts of the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Chief (Barr.) Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, GSSRs, POS (Africa), designed to better the lives of residents and indigenes of the state and attract foreign investors to the state which will also help boost the economy and livelihood of Rivers State and her people. The Lady Pharmacists in Nigeria under the aegis of Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPS) ably led by the National Chairman,  Pharm (Mrs) Victoria Ukwu FPSN have demonstrated yet again, their commitment towards the development of the girl child, calling on girls to rise up to their responsibility as change agents and to disallow any attempt to shut them up from oppression, abuses and any form of marginalization.  This call was resounded at Holy Rosary College , Port Harcourt, a mission-run girls' secondary school, during the celebration of this years, International Day of the Girl Child by the national arm of ALPS in collaboration with the Rivers State Branch which currently houses the national secretariat.  The ALPians speaking at the celebration which had as its theme for the year, GIRL FORCE: Unscripted and Unstoppable , called on the girl child to reject limitations to her aspirations on the grounds of gender and strive to actualize her God-given potentials. 

PSN RIVERS EULOGIZES LATE PA ABEL DOUGHBO BROWN

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Rivers Branch, has described the Late Pa Abel Doughbo Brown as a Legend and beacon of professionalism, patriotism and philanthropy. The Society made this known though her Chairman at the Inaugural Service of the Abel Doughbo Foundation at Finima Town in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State yesterday, October 1, 2019. The Chairman who was represented by the Publicity Secretary, Pharm. Joseph Ebirim described the Late Pa Brown as a hero worth celebrating for his achievements and reputation in the provision of quality, effective and safe extemporaneous medicines in his days, and it was only timely that he is being celebrated at a time when the nation is re-echoing the need for government and pharmacists to do all that is possible to ensure the populace have unhindered access to safe and effective medicines. The PSN made this known during a courtesy visit to the governor at Government House yesterday 26th September 2019. The high powered PSN delegation ably led by the Chairman, Pharm. Chima Agnellus Ogbu MAW consisted of Fellows and elders of the profession and members of the Executive Council. WORLD PHARMACISTS DAY 2019: PHARMACISTS REITERATE CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO CLOSE DOWN OPEN DRUG MARKETS AND IMPLEMENT NDDG

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) yesterday reiterated calls to the Federal Government of Nigeria to summon the political will to shut down all open drug market in the country and implement the National Drug Distribution Guidelines (NDDG) so as to augment her efforts towards promoting safe and effective medicines to millions of Nigerians. The PSN made this call during the celebration of the 2019 World Pharmacists Day in Rivers State. The PSN described the continued existence of open drug markets as a threat to the health and wellbeing of the populace. The pharmacists debunked the claims by some misinformed members of the public that pharmacists are against open drug markets so as to have monopoly of drug sales but informed the public that medicines when stored at unfavourable temperatures and humidity as found in the open markets in Nigeria will lead to deterioration of the active ingredients of the drugs and so become ineffective and unsafe for use.
